What is awaiting you?

In the heart of Sarıyer, among the significant historical landmarks of the district, lies the Sarıyer Hamamı—a notable heritage site. Constructed by Şeyhülislam Hocazade Mehmet Efendi, also known as Çelebi Mufti, the bathhouse is estimated to have been built between the late 16th and early 17th centuries, given that Şeyhülislam Hocazade Mehmet Efendi passed away in 1615. Initially erected to fulfill the needs of the Zekeriyaköy Mosque, the historical hamam eventually fell into the ownership of the Hamamcıoğulları family due to long-term leases.

Sarıyer Hamamı was among Istanbul’s esteemed bathhouses, earning the nickname “Lovers’ Hamam” and being recommended for couples seeking a romantic retreat. In addition, the first bullet of the War of Independence was fired in the Sarıyer Hamam.

The bathhouse is divided into two separate sections for males and females. While we will enter together, please note that we will be going into different areas specially designated for genders.
