Work Permit Exemption
ICO attends to the legal obligations of each international researcher in collaboration with respective program and administrative offices from the moment of acceptance and official enrollment. Our website contains all useful information needed for a proper application process for all applicants.
For us, ICO, to start the Researcher Work Permit Exemption Application Process, we do need to be notified by the Office of Vice President for Research and Development (VPRD). In this regard, please request your supervisor to contact the VPRD (Ms. Elif Tüysüz, etuysuz@ku.edu.tr). After approval of your research status at KU, the VPRD will notify us to start your work permit exemption application process. ICO will contact you to request initial materials to start the process.
Important Information
- An application can only be made after entering Türkiye and approval of VPRD. It is not possible to apply outside of the country.
- In order to make an application, you need to enter Türkiye with your original passport. No other entry document is acceptable for residence permit applications.
- Applicants’ passports must be valid at least 60 days beyond the requested ending date of work permit exemption.
- The applicants must be present in Türkiye at the time of application and evaluation. Departing from Türkiye before your application is evaluated results in the rejection of your application.

For us to fill out your application, after your arrival and VPRD/supervisor approval, please email workpermit@ku.edu.tr with the following materials and our specialist will let you know when you can visit our office along with your passport.

- 1 Biometric Photo with a White Background (JPEG)
- Scholarship Letter from Home University/Country – if applicable (PDF)
- Scan of ID Page and Last Entry Page of Passport (1 Page PDF)
