Updated Regulation on Residential Address of Foreigners

IMPORTANT: This announcement does not apply to those who have or will have a student residence permit.
If you are a student residing in one of the restricted districts, you are exempt from this regulation. If you fall into that category, please add your student enrollment certificate to the required documents to provide at your visit.
The Presidency of Migration Management declared a new announcement on 19.10.2022 about the residence permit applications in Türkiye. According to the state migration policy, certain districts in Istanbul are not going to be accepted as residential locations for foreigners.
Those who live in these districts will not be able to apply for a residence permit for the first time, even if they purchase property in these districts.
Foreigners who have already registered their addresses in these districts prior to the announcement will not be affected.
How can I check the districts?
The list of restricted districts can be found on the official website.
Please note that the list is subject to change and can be updated periodically. Therefore, it is crucial to check the list if you are planning to move to another address in Istanbul beforehand. Alternatively, you can consult 157 Foreigners Communication Center.
