Important Information
  1. Dependent Residence Permits are issued for a maximum length of 2 years each time; however, this length is the first contingent upon the residence permit of the primary resident (benefactor).
  2. All applications must be made before the expiry date of the visa or permission to stay without a visa period. Dependents’ passports must be valid 60 days further than the requested end date of the residency (i.e. if the benefactor has a student residence permit until March 1st, a dependent can only apply for a residence permit which ends at this date. Therefore, his/ her passport must be valid until April 30th).
  3. The earliest renewal application can be made 60 days before the expiration date of the residence permit.
  4. Apostilled marriage certificate for your spouse and apostilled birth certificate of your child are musts for their applications. Those apostilled certificates must be translated to Turkish and notarized.
  5. While filling out the online application form, a dependent should select “SHORT-TERM/ touristic” instead of “FAMILY”.
  6. It is necessary to upload the applicant’s (dependent’s) headshot photograph in ICAO standards taken within the last six months to the online application form. Please have your dependents’ headshot photographs in the JPEG version on your computer available before starting the online application.
  7. Please select the “I lodge the application on my own behalf” option on the Person Applying on Behalf of the Applicant part of the form.
  8. Your dependents can pay their residence permit application and card fees at Sarıyer Tax Office with a 9207 reference code.
  9. Each dependent must print out the online application form, sign the 1st-page signature field, collect the documents listed below, go to their appointments and submit them.  The benefactor should collect his or her documents as much as the number of his or her dependents. (i.e. if you have a spouse and a child, you should collect two Student Enrollment Certificates).
  10. If you indicated any wrong data into your online application form, you need to cancel it and apply it again. For the Instructions Guide to Cancel Residence Permit Application, please click here.

III Please contact our Human Resources Department to ask for your and your dependents’ health insurance policy documents. You can send an email to catespare@ku.edu.tr

If you do not have any health insurance, please click here to see our recommended insurance companies.

IV These apostilled certificates must be translated to Turkish and notarized.

If your country is not a party to the Apostille Convention, you have two options:

  1. Before arriving in Türkiye, you can contact a Turkish mission in your country. The Turkish mission can translate and approve your certificates.
  2. After arriving in Türkiye, you should visit the consulate of your country and get your certificates stamped. Then you should visit the Sarıyer District Governor (Kaymakamlık- 5th floor) to have your stamped documents approved. Finally, you must get them translated to Turkish and notarized. We suggest the 23rd Notary Public since its location and the translation service it provides are convenient.

Since the dependents do not have their foreign ID numbers yet, they must obtain tax ID numbers to be able to pay their fees. To learn how to purchase a tax ID number, please visit our Tax ID web page.

Payment of all fee types can ONLY be made to Tax Offices. The closest tax office to campus is the Sarıyer Tax Office. For directions, click here.
